On the 29th of August, 2023 Mozilla released its new versions of Firefox 117, Firefox 102.15, and Firefox ESR 115.2 with additional functionality and security fixes. These releases contain multiple changes. New features, fixes, and changes in Firefox 117, as listed on Mozilla’s release page include the following:
- Support for credit card autofill for users running Firefox in the IT, ES, AT, BE, and PL locales.
- Control over the tabability of controls and links for macOS users via about:preferences.
- To avoid undesirable outcomes on sites that specify their own behavior when pressing shift+right-click, Firefox now has a dom.event.contextmenu.shift_suppresses_event preference to prevent the context menu from appearing.
- YouTube video lists now scroll correctly when navigating with a screen reader.
- Firefox no longer shows its own screen sharing indicator on Wayland desktop environments. The system default sharing indicator will be used instead.
As always, the new releases also come with a number of security fixes, 13 in Firefox 117, 14 in Firefox ESR 115.2, and 6 in Firefox ESR 102.15. 7 of these issues received a high severity rating, mostly memory safety and memory corruption bugs.
