Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (SCCM) Version 2002 End of Life

SCCM Version 2002 is going end of life on October 1, 2021. We advise you to update to version 2006 or later to avoid any security risks. The Configuration Manager is now part of Microsoft Endpoint Manager, here are the biggest changes:

  • Microsoft Endpoint Manager tenant attach: Display all applications for a device and merge antivirus policy exclusion
  • Site infrastructure, new prerequisite checks: enable the site for HTTPS-only or enhanced HTTP, deprecated Azure monitor connector and SQL Server Express version
  • Application management: disable application deployments
  • Protection: Improvements to BitLocker management
  • Software updates: Approved scripts for orchestration groups.

Updating to SCCM 2006 gives you access to new features like improvements to the Microsoft Endpoint Manager tenant attach like running scripts, getting a device timeline, a resource explorer in the admin center, and more. Endpoint analytics data collection enabled by default and updates to the site infrastructure such as management insights to optimize for remote workers improved support for Azure Virtual Desktop and intranet clients can use a CMG software update point. In addition to these updates, many more new features were included in the following categories:
