An uninterruptible power supply or UPS is a power system that provides continuous power. During power interruptions, it can supply almost instantaneous energy which is stored in its battery or flywheel. The amount of energy that this battery can provide is limited, but it should provide you with enough time to change to an alternative power source or properly shut down your computers, data centers, and other critical equipment. UPS units can range from small units designed to protect a single device to large units that can power an entire data center.

Scanned UPS Information

When Lansweeper scans your network, it will create an asset page for your UPS appliances.  Ideally, UPS devices are scanned via Simple Network Management Protocol or SNMP. This protocol will retrieve the most information from your network devices. Lansweeper will show you a list of connected network interfaces to the UPS. This list gives you a clear overview of all available ports and the devices connected to them. Likewise, if the connected device has been scanned as well, you can quickly navigate from the UPS’s asset page to those of the connected devices and vice versa. The scanned information includes these general details:
  • Device description
  • Manufacturer
  • Model
  • Serial number
  • Uptime
  • Network interfaces
Besides general details, Lansweeper scans the following UPS-specific information:
  • UPS Software Version
  • Battery Status
  • Estimated Minutes Remaining
  • Estimated Charge Remaining
  • Battery Voltage
  • Battery Temperature
  • Alarms Present
