The company was founded in 1884 in Dayton, Ohio by John Henry and Frank Jefferson Patterson when they bought the patents for the first cash register invented by James Ritty in 1879.
Since then, the company has developed, designed, and manufactured a wide range of cash registers and is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, the USA. Currently, the company manufactures products such as point of sale or POS terminals, self-service kiosks, check processing systems, ATMs, barcode scanners, and other business consumables.
