Ubuntu is a Linux distribution and operating system which is available in free and open source platform based on the Unix-like operating system, Debian. The Ubuntu operating system is designed and developed by Canonical Ltd and the Ubuntu community in a meritocratic governance model.
The operating system has been released in three official editions, the first one is designed for desktops and personal computers, the second for cloud, and the third one for devices and robots based on Internet of Things technology. Updates are released every six months which contains guaranteed security updates and support, while long-term support updates are released every two years.
