Initially released in 1992 by an anti-malware software developer Doctor Web, Dr. Web is a specialized software suite that became Russia’s first anti-virus service. The Dr. Web antivirus software is available for easy installation on many operating systems including Linux, macOS, Microsoft Windows, DOS, Android, BlackBerry, OS/2, and Windows Mobile.
While the software is predominantly used in Russia, it is available in other languages including English, Japanese, French, German, and Korean. Besides the Dr. Web antivirus, the company also provides anti-spam software solutions that include features to scan email attachments, add-ons for all major browsers, and other online virus detectors.
