Has there been any further talk of figuring out how to get chromebooks to report to LS? Even talks in meetings or something.

Managing 1700 manually is doable, but not ideal.

Chromebook scanning has been added in the 2019 Fall release.

Would like to see this issue addressed as well! We are a school moving to Chromebooks - they are hands down better than Windows laptops for students.

Since Chrome is really just an type of Linux wouldn't you just need to write an agent something like an SSH terminal? I guess if it was that easy it would've been done by now...

We have a Google domain and that's how I am importing them into LS. But any name changes or anything needs to be done manually.

We have well over 2,000 chromebooks that we have to manage manually.

That's a boatload, you might consider this at your scale... If you're not already doing so...

Waiting for several years since first suggestions. We're moving to mostly chromebooks and this is an important feature that is needed. Any progress? Any plans? Buehler....Buehler....

I'm thinking this is the likely route for this:
https://developer.chrome.com/extensions/getstarted

Info can be obtained from the system via a Chrome plugin/extension, and the plugin/extension could be configured to report back to the Lansweeper install based on XYZ interval or when Chrome runs, or something to that degree... Whatever makes sense based on the actually available capabilities...

Examples:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/system-info/ajeapkolnhblcfaapiifkeknkknpliia?hl=en
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/cog-system-info-viewer/difcjdggkffcfgcfconafogflmmaadco?hl=en
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/system-information/onhkebfeddeioobcbogplienpgblhomc?hl=en

So if these extensions can get at the data, so can one from Lansweeper, with the ability to then push the data back somewhere...

Good luck.

I've moved this topic to the wishlist section so it doesn't get overlooked. Lansweeper currently cannot retrieve information from Chromebooks as none of the protocols through which Lansweeper retrieves information are available on these devices. Scanning Chromebooks is on our customer wishlist though and we'll add your feedback regarding a scanning agent for Chromebooks. At this moment in time we don't have an estimated release date for this feature yet.
