Asset lifecycle information

Asset lifecycle information is a feature that is currently in preview mode.

From version 10.2 onward, Lansweeper can retrieve asset lifecycle information and display it in Lansweeper Cloud. Both hardware (model) and operating system lifecycle data is retrieved. Scanned properties include general availability date of the hardware or OS, end of life (EOL) date and end of support (EOS) date. This knowledge base article explains how to scan and view lifecycle data.

1. Enable Credential-free Device Recognition (CDR)

Make sure your Lansweeper installation is up-to-date and that Credential-free Device Recognition (CDR) is turned on. This feature can be enabled in the Credential-free Device Recognition section of the Configuration\Server Options menu. CDR is enabled by default, but it's best to double-check its configuration prior to attempting asset lifecycle retrieval.

CDR will periodically send your assets' fingerprints to the recognition API for identification. After the initial asset identification, asset lifecycle information is also automatically retrieved.

2. Link your installation with Lansweeper Cloud

Asset lifecycle information is not visualized in your local Lansweeper installation. To view it, link your installation with Lansweeper Cloud. Once your installation is done syncing with Cloud, you can view asset lifecycle information in the Summary tab of your individual asset pages in Cloud. It is listed under a specific Lifecycle header.
