The company was founded by brothers, Sreekanth Ravi and Sudhakar Ravi under the name Sonic Systems and produced hubs, bridged, and Ethernet and Fast Ethernet cards.
Currently headquartered in San Jose, California, the company provides a range of products including firewalls, VPN, wireless security, UTM, and other security appliances. SonicWall’s security products are designed to provide content control, network security, and filtration of viruses, spyware, spam, and other malware. In 2016, Dell sold the company to a private equity firm.
