Institutes by Volker Theile in 2009, OpenMediaVault is a free Linux distribution designed for network attached storage or NAS. The software is a Unix-like OS and is based on the Debian operating system and is designed to cater for home users. OMV provides the Debian operating system a web-based user interface to enable the implementation of features.
These features include several protocols, software-RAID, statistics reports and graphs, multiple filing systems, access controls via ACL, a plug-in systems, RAM collection, monitoring, and many others, OMV is also designed with some plug-ins including an antivirus software, file-hosting services, plex servers, webclient, SAN and iSCSI, UPS support, and many more.
