Modicon PLC

The Modicon PLC was the first PLC or programmable logic controller developed by GM Hydramatic, which is the automatic transmission division of General Motors. The PLC was developed in 1968 and was called Modicon, which stands for modular digital controllers.

The Modicon brand was then sold to Gould Electronics in 1977, then to German Company AEG, and is currently under the ownership of Schneider Electric. Schneider Electric currently develops, manufactures, and distributes a range of PLCs under the Modicon brand. These PLCs are designed for easy programming, commissioning, maintenance, and IIoT ready for applications in various industrial automation areas such as HVAC.
