Isilon Systems was originally founded in 2001 in Seattle, Washington, USA by Sujal Patel and Paul Mikesell. In November of 2010, the company was acquired by the EMC Corporation and is headquartered in Massachusetts, the USA. The Isilon part of Dell EMC has currently been developed into a scale-out Network Attached Storage or NAS platform.
The platform is designed specifically for providing backup, high-volume storage, and archiving unstructured data. It is scalable to 50 petabytes in a single file system. Their platform is a high-performance solution designed for different sized companies and was given the highest overall score by Gartner in 2015.
