FRISK Software International was a security software company that was founded in 1993 by Friðrik Skúlason in Reykjavik, Iceland. The company is mostly known for their antivirus software F-Prot and F-Prot AVES, along with anti-spam services. FRISK’s F-Prot software is one of the oldest antivirus, which was designed with a heuristic engine and was first released in 1989.
Since then, the company gained a respectable name for their products and competed against some of the leading antivirus software like McAfee, Avira, F-Secure, and among others. In 2012, the company Commtouch, now known as CYREN acquired FRISK Software International.
