Seymour Cray founded Cray Inc. in 1972 as Cray Research, Inc. after leaving Control Data Corporation (CDC) and developing his signature CDC 6600 and 7600 mainframe computer systems. Currently, the company is headquartered in Seattle, Washington and develops supercomputers, data storage solutions and analytic systems. Cray’s main manufacture facility is located in Wisconsin with numerous R&D, sales, services, and engineering centers located in various locations around the world.

Cray’s products and services are mainly divided into three main categories including computing, storage, and AI & Analytics. The products under the three categories are manly supercomputers, cluster supercomputers, storage systems, application accelerators, analytics software, and others.
