Texas Instruments senior managers, Rod Canion, Jim Harris, and Bill Murto founded the company Compaq (Compatibility and Quality) in February of 1982 based in Texas, United States. The company is a computer technology company that developed and distributed computer hardware and software products and services, serving the markets in the US, the UK, India, and Argentina.

The main focus of Compaq’s products was IBM PC compatible computers and was one of the first companies to reverse engineer an IBM personal computer. Compaq’s wide range of products includes workstations, desktops, laptops, servers, notebooks, telecommunication equipment, and software solutions. As of 2013, the company has been acquired by Hewlett-Packard.
