Ciena, officially known as Ciena Corporation, is a telecommunications equipment manufacturer that is based in Hanover, Maryland, United States. The company was founded in 1992 by David Huber and Kevin Kimberlin to provide a number of services, software, and services related to networking.
Over the years since their inception, Cisco acquired various companies and expanded their product portfolio to include converged packet optical, packet networking, SDN/NFV solutions, software management, and various services. Some of their most prominent networking products include optical switches, local access equipment, generation hybrid gear, routers, smart management software, and various Ethernet technologies. Currently, Ciena supports more than 1,300 of the world’s largest networks.
