Alstom SA is a French multinational company that has operations worldwide in the rail transport industry. Alstom was founded in 1928 as a result of a merger of Thomson-Houston Electric Company and Société Alsacienne de Constructions Mécaniques. Currently, the company is located in Saint-Ouen, France and offers products and solutions related to passenger transportation, signaling and locomotives.
Besides train and locomotives, Alstom was also involved in power generation and power transmission and ran businesses called Alstom Power Systems and Alstom Grid, respectively. The latter of the two provides transmission products, power electric systems, automation and other services worldwide. In fact, Alstom Grid holds roughly 10% of the global market share in the industry.
