I am fairly new to LANSweeper, but it's a great network inventory tool. We are using it to inventory all of the workstations in the Provincial School System and it's working out well thus far.

I am having an issue with several clients that are not able to be scanned and when you look at the Errors for the client you get the following error:

Errors found while scanning: Specified cast is not valid.

Any idea what is causing this error and how to remedy it so that these clients will scan and be properly inventoried?

Thanks for the info. I tried it on one of the clients in question, but it didn't help. I then remember a tool that I have used several times in the past:

I tried this on the client computer, repaired most of the registry using the tool, rebooted and the computer scanned fine after that. Thanks again for the help!

This error is likely due to corrupt WMI (Windows Management Instrumentation) on the client machine. Lansweeper pulls most data from WMI. More info on this error can be found here: http://lansweeper.com/kb/47/How-to-repair-a-corrupt-WMI-installation.html
