What service allows for the monitors to be picked up? WMI? Also why do only about 1/2 of them show up?

Data about connected monitors is scanned from the registry of the computers which have monitors connected. If the number of monitors in your database is not correct, this might be caused by unusual monitor serial number formats. Through this, different monitors overwrite each other in the Lansweeper database. Could you send a mail to support@lansweeper.com in order to follow up this issue.

It is possible with EDID.
Not all monitors support EDID.
