Engaged Sweeper III
We currently have several hundred users that work remotely. They are either in their homes or in clients homes while working. We have found Lansweepers remote control works great for computers that are in one of our facilities but not for these remote users. We are looking for more of a client type remote access solution. I see on the Forums some are using TeamViewer and some are using UltraVNC. Are there any other options? Has anyone tried both and if so what are your thoughts on which is better?

We use ScreenConnect. We had bought it back when it was quite a bit cheaper than it is now and our support renewal costs on it are very low due to this. Pricing now is a lot higher. Awesome product and very well supported though.

I use DameWare from SolarWinds. I have about 175 users and it works well. I'm able to integrate it into Lansweeper, which is awesome! For home users I use LogMeIn; This is getting kind of expensive and might be moving to a different product for home users.

We did try Windows RA and it does work fine for in-network support. It did not work for external employee's. We have since tried Dameware and that works OK for both. We are currently testing Teamviewer to see if we like that interface better than Dameware. Both TV and Dameware work, now we are just figuring out which one we like better.

For in network support we will probably use Lansweepers Remote Control. We are used to it and it handles UAC prompts fine.

I'll update this after we make our final decision, maybe it will help someone trying to do this in the future.

You can try windows remote assistance (built into windows) but I think it may be more usefull on a domain or something with a trust. I've not tried this without being on a domain here.
YOu can setup the "OFFER remote assistance" option on computers via a policy.
Also, technically, people can ask for remote support right in windows and it opens up a nice internface

check for "windows remote assistance" in windows 7 search. "invite someone". it works via email as well (assuming firewalls don't break anything)
